FAQs

  • My air conditioner is leaking!

Leaks in air conditioners are generally caused from a blockage in the drainage system and can be fixed during an Advanced Clean Air visit.

  • My unit is noisy!
    1. If you are hearing a Whooshing or huffing noise it is generally due to an uneven airflow passing through the coil and across the scroll fan and should be fixed during an Advanced Clean Air 'A' Clean.
    2. If it is a vibration this can also be caused from a dirty unit generally being an out of balance fan with a lot of build up on it. An Advanced Clean Air 'A' Clean will remove the build-up, but depending on how long it has been running out of balance for it can end up causing strain on the fan motor spout. This could cause it to also be out of balance. This would generally require Advanced Clean Air to attend to clean up the scroll fan, then testing the unit to see if it has relieved the problem. If not parts can be sourced and replaced.
  • My air conditioner is not cooling!
    1. This is one that will require you to feel the air coming out of the unit itself, as it may be cool air coming out but having no airflow to push it into the room due to a blocked coil and barrel fan. If this is the case it can be fixed with an Advanced Clean Air visit.
    2. If the air coming out has no cooling effect at all then there is an external issue and will require a repair technician
  • My air conditioner stinks!

If your unit stinks it will need a good Advanced Clean Air Service to fix the problem.

  • My air conditioner won't turn on!

If your unit will not turn on at all you can try the "auto" button located under the cover (generally to the right hand side of where your filters are). If this get's the unit running you have a problem with the remote or the receiver. If you don't get any response from your air conditioner it will require a repair technician to identify the problem.

Mouldy Air Conditioning Vent in Darwin
By Jason Gebert 15 Apr, 2020
The first sign many people notice is a musty, mouldy odour. If you do a thorough clean of your office or commercial space and the smell is still there, it’s time to check your vents. Getting your Air Conditioning Contractor to remove the covers and take a quick look inside may confirm the issue, especially if you see mould or notice a stronger smell in that area. If the scent is stronger, but you can’t see the mould, then the growth is possibly further in the ducts. Another sign of a mould issue is the sudden onset of allergy symptoms. If you or a co-worker notices burning eyes, scratchy throat, or a runny nose that gets better when you leave the office, there could be an issue. Arranging for your HVAC technician to check your filters should be the first step. If it needs to be changed they can install a new one. If the symptoms continue they can do a quick check of your vents and a visual check of your ducts. Inspecting your duct work can also provide clues to a possible mould problem. An Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) can check for signs of moisture build-up, such as condensation, dark spots, or actual leaks. Mould needs water to grow, so any signs of condensation or leaking could indicate a growth hot spot. Duct cleaning and coating is a specialised job and as such the majority of HVAC companies sub-contract duct cleaning and coating out to companies like ours. At Advanced Air we have our Air Systems Cleaning Specialist on staff ready to undertake any duct inspection, cleaning or coating project you may have.
